ASTES has a long tradition in manufacturing of traction machines for elevators in Turkey. Our company was founded in 1962 in Istanbul/Turkey as a small workshop. Today we are producing ca. 2500 units per year, for passenger and freight elevators.

Increasing its production capacity by folds, ASTES has established as a joint stock company to prepare for the future. And by continuing the work in this manner, ASTES completed its new factory site on a 15.000m2 plot in Silivri-Istanbul in 2006.

We are certified in accordance to ISO 9001 and producing on modern CNC machines. We only use high quality raw materials that are approved to the strictest local and European norms, in order to achieve an optimum efficiency and high power output. Our quality policy is also to obtain parts from high skilled companies in Turkey and abroad (primarily from Germany, Italy and France), in order to supply our clients high quality with competitive price.

ASTES lift machines are basically worm gearboxes, driven by specially designed and manufactured lift motors, equipped with a brake system, a traction sheave, an outer bearing (optional) and a flywheel. The gearbox housing provides an efficient power transmission along with a high level of safety.

Our worm gears are made of case hardened cemented steel and are precisely hardened and grinded on the surface. High quality ball bearings and sliding bearings are used for balancing the radial and axial loads. The bearings on the main shaft are also sliding type bearings that can resist very high radial loads.

All parts in our assembly line are manufactured and controlled to guarantee noiseless, vibration free and perfect operation in compliance with our high quality perception. At the end of the manufacturing process, ASTES performs a dynamic balancing of the traction machines and controls the noise level with help of sensitive test devices. Although our products are well engineered and designed for a long lifespan, we supply a large inventory of original spare parts ready to dispatch, in order to shorten downtimes and guarantee a high availability.

Through strong relationships to western companies, ASTES continuously followed up new technical developments and implemented these for use in Turkey. Inspired by the worldwide developments in the elevator industries, ASTES now is the leading local company in the production of regulated speed traction machines.
